I have followed all instructions I can find here on how to get a minidump file, but I just can’t get it to create one. When I set the hard drive shut down to never and then put the system to sleep, I do not get the BSOD on wake up, but still get errors and registry leaks. The BSOD seems to only happen when powering on or waking up the hard drive. Guess I should have been paying more attention and tried to investigate that issue first… anyway, I’m here now. So now it’s obvious to me that it was not just a faulty hard drive, but something else. I’m now getting a BSOD that reads Kernel Data Inpage Error. So I replaced what I thought was a faulty hard drive and installed Windows 8. Last week my system failed to boot and I kept getting the black repair screen on an endless loop. I have a Gateway GT5408, purchased in 2007 that came with Vista.
